How Melissa’s pivot into IT led to “super rewarding” work at APHW
While Junior NetSuite Administrator Melissa was studying Accounting in college, she always remained open to new information. “In college, I loved going to career fairs and talking to people in different industries to see what their experiences are like.”
When Melissa began doing business internships, she set out to gain insight on how businesses operate; now she’s a member of our Technology Team, and it’s been a win for everyone.
The perks of being curious
In her business internships, Melissa’s closer look at front-end processes and accounting led to an interesting discovery: She wanted to work in IT. Melissa realized “the importance of business systems”, and she knew that’s where she wanted to be. As she explained, “It’s super rewarding to be able to help people out by finding a solution where everyone is satisfied.”
Two-and-a-half years ago, Melissa officially made the switch into IT, which ultimately which brought her to America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW). She has readily adapted to her role as Junior NetSuite Administrator, where there’s been great collaboration from the start.
Welcomed into the fold
“NetSuite Techno-functional Developer Jessica is our technical resource; she’s been super insightful at creating solutions,” Melissa shared. In her work with Senior NetSuite Administrator Tim, she states, “Tim has been in NetSuite since its implementation at this company, so having Tim and Jessica together has been really great for coming up with solutions at APHW.”
In all, Melissa describes her colleagues in IT as a department full of people who are, “wonderful and supportive. They’re a team I can easily rely on.”
Proud moments and great environments
To date, Melissa has already achieved and been a part of great things – particularly with creating tools that have streamlined processes for our Sales Team.
As she continues to thrive in this role, Melissa expressed that she’ll become even more technical, and APHW has been the right environment for that. “Everyone here has been so wonderful, especially when dealing with help calls,” Melissa stated, continuing, “They’ve all been kind and super helpful. I’m grateful for the work environment that we have.”
