Jackie got laid off in October 2018. She’d hated her job, but thought the constant stress and anxiety were worth the income.
“I felt like I could never do a good enough job, and they didn’t care about you or what was going on at home—you were just another employee,” she said. “I knew I wasn’t happy, but I kept going back, spending my days looking at the clock and weekends anxious over the week ahead. I needed the paycheck.”
The job loss terrified her, but Jackie and her husband decided she would take five months at home with the kids while looking for an alternative. She found America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) in March and hasn’t looked back since.
A New Start
“I feel like I’ve grown more in the last seven months than in the entire five years at my last job,” Jackie said. “I have support from my supervisors, the coaching sessions are amazing, and the people are so easy to talk to, from upper management all the way down. Different departments mingle and everyone feels equal.”

Jackie values the advancement opportunities as well. “I feel like I could go as far as I wanted to here,” she said, adding an important clarifier: “But even if I stayed in customer service for the rest of my life, I would be happy here. I love my job!”
