Being recognized for hard work is always an amazing feeling—it pulls everything into perspective and shows that your efforts are appreciated. Especially amazing is when your employer goes even further to ensure you know that gratitude is genuine. This was the case when America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) played a recording of Matt McQuerry’s family at their annual Sales Meeting in January, to acknowledge him as their 2018 Top Producer.
“They surprised me with my wife and two young sons announcing it,” said the APHW Northeastern Ohio Area Sales Manager. “That was one of the coolest moments I’ve had professionally; actually, in my life. Because everything I do is for them. They’re everything to me.”
APHW’s family culture has remained strong throughout its 20 years, even while nearly doubling its staff over 2018. Matt joined the team nearly four years ago and loves what he does to this day.
“I’ve never had an environment like this before. I leave early, get home late, and I smile all day. Most days I don’t consider what I do to be ‘work,’” Matt said. “I’m a people person, and one of the most enjoyable parts of my job is frequently getting to meet new people and talk to them.”
As much as he loves his job, it does keep Matt away from home for long days—which is why the video was so emotional for him. “I couldn’t do what I do without the love and support of my family,” he said. “I’m incredibly humbled and thankful. It’s certainly an effort of all and not just me—there are a ton of people who work to make our accomplishments possible.”
To those considering joining the sales team, Matt offers a few words of advice: “First, trust the process. It has worked, is working, and will continue to work throughout the country. Second, make sure you’re reaching out to those who have been here—it’s imperative that you realize you’re not alone. And finally, have fun! Honestly, one of the secrets to my success is that I enjoy this so, so much. I have fun every single day!”

“I’m just thankful APHW saw something in me when I was hired that I didn’t know was there,” Matt said. “This company has truly changed my life.”
