Return to Work: How Ricky Found his Second Family

Ricky Vazquez returned to work after being a stay-at-home dad for a year, joining America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) when our recruiters reached out to him through LinkedIn. Since meeting his coworkers and seeing our president, Randy Caltrider, in action, he says that interacting with his colleagues here “just feels like family”—a family so tight that we continued to grow during the pandemic.

Ricky says, “When you first meet everyone, you really feel like you’re part of the family. Everyone tries their best to help you—we all talk to one another, we all brainstorm together, and we’re all just a phone call away. You never feel like you can’t talk to anyone. In my previous experiences, I never felt that way. Once you become a part of this family, it’s a feeling that you never want to let go.”

During Ricky’s first days at APHW, he and his five fellow trainees picked each other’s brains and really helped each other out. The hands-on training process also helped him partner with more seasoned colleagues to build a firm foundation. “Everyone tries their best to help you, and we’re all just a phone call away,” he states.

Since he completed his training, Ricky has elevated his skills and built a career for himself that he truly loves. “I get to build relationships with everyone,” he says, “as well as seize the chance to learn as much of the real estate world as possible.”

Ricky also combines forces with local real estate agents, who see the value we offer and are “completely caring and nice”, he states. For anyone thinking about becoming an Area Sales Manager themselves, Ricky wants you to know that “as long as you’re true to yourself and to the real estate agents you work with, you’ll do great.”
